About this condition
A sprain is a stretch or tear of the ligaments, usually on the outside of the ankle after the foot rolls inward. Most settle with early protection and rehabilitation, but severe sprains and missed fractures can cause lasting problems if they are not assessed.
What you may notice
A twisted ankle with pain, swelling and bruising that makes it hard to put weight on the foot.
How we help
Careful examination to grade the injury and rule out a fracture, then early protection, rehabilitation and a plan to prevent a repeat.
