Ankle Stiffness

About this condition

Stiffness can follow injury, surgery or immobilisation, or come from bony spurs or scar tissue inside the joint. Finding the cause decides whether stretching and physiotherapy are enough.

What you may notice

An ankle that will not bend fully, making squatting, stairs and walking uncomfortable.

How we help

Find out whether the cause is scarring, bone or joint change, then treat it: stretching, physiotherapy, or release of the stiff tissue when needed.

This page is general information. The right option depends on your examination and scans, so please book a consultation for advice on your own case.
