About this condition
A high-arched, or cavus, foot loads the heel and the ball of the foot and can make the ankle unstable. An underlying nerve or muscle condition is sometimes behind it, so a careful examination matters.
What you may notice
An unusually high, stiff arch with weight taken on the heel and ball of the foot, often with ankle instability.
How we help
Look for an underlying cause, then offer cushioned insoles, bracing and, where needed, surgery to rebalance the foot.
